Key Partnerships

Children's National Hospital

Since its inception, LBF has granted several million dollars to the Brain Tumor Institute at Children's National Hospital to support a variety of research projects across multiple disease types, vital laboratory equipment and the LBF Fellowship Fund.

Childhood Brain Tumor Network

LBF is a proud member of the Executive Council for Childhood Brain Tumor Network (CBTN), an organization that uniquely brings together leaders from the clinical, research, and patient communities to better understand brain tumor biology and develop precision strategies to treat each child's tumor. As of 2024, LBF has granted over $1.5 million to CBTN in support of the advancement of discoveries and precision medicine for children with brain cancer.

Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium

The Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC) is an international consortium with centers within the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. LBF partners with PNOC to support clinical trials for children's with brain cancer. The goal of clinical trials is to improve outcomes by translating the latest findings in brain tumor biology into better treatments for these children.

LBF Fellowship Fund

The LBF Fellowship Fund is a program that was established in 2018 with a mission to fund the next generation of researchers in the pediatric brain cancer space. The goal of this program is to provide seed funding to recruit and retain young, talented researchers and clinicians who plan to dedicate their careers to improving the lives of children with pediatric brain cancer.

“The research funded by LBF has been extremely supportive in speeding up the creation of pediatric brain cancer-derived 3D in vitro tumoroids. The outcome of this research will provide opportunities for testing personalized therapy in children.” - Dr. Samuele Tardito, 2023 Fellowship Fund Recipient
