11 CHILDREN A DAY are diagnosed with a brain tumor

LBF Mission

About the Lilabean Foundation

The Lilabean Foundation (LBF) was founded in 2011 to help find a cure for the nearly 4,000 children a year who are diagnosed with brain cancer. Over the past six years, LBF has raised $800,000, which has been donated directly to research efforts at the Brain Tumor Institute at Children’s National Medical Center.

In addition to wanting to help find a cure for the 30+ types of pediatric brain cancer, LBF is also dedicated to finding safer and more efficient treatment options. In addition to raising funds, LBF seeks to raise awareness of the severity of pediatric brain cancer and the funds needed to sponsor critical research.

What We Do

Proteomic analysis of Medulloblastoma reveals functional biology with translational potential

LBF is proud to have supported the work of the research for this first ever large scale quantitative proteomics publication on a pediatric brain tumor (or pediatric cancer of any type). Dr. Brian Rood says, “We hope this research will usher in a new wave of proteome based discovery for pediatric cancers. We truly couldn’t have done this important work without the faith and support of LBF.” THANK YOU!”

LBF is aligned with the Brain Tumor Institute at Children’s National Medical Center to support their research efforts as well as those at the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC).
